1991 Audi 100
I have a great 1991 Audi 100 with 120K. Problem is the moldy smell when I use the heater - ventilation. How do I cure or remove the molds without taking the system apart.

one thing you can try, at automotive stores like kragen they sometimes have a spray that you spray into the intake for your heater/AC system and it gets rid of mold and smell and stuff. at least usually. might want to look around for some of that.

Ventilation molds
Dear Philihp2,
Thank you very much for your response. I got excited, however, when
I asked around in the church, car repair shops and even with an Audi
specialist who works with Audi, they all have the same answer. All of
them does not really work well. The mold comes back in a short while
after using off the counter chemicals and sprayers. Am I naive or either
they did not use or did not spraying properly. Is the Audi specialist trying
to be important, know it all or wants me to have the mold removal by them ?
Now, I seem to be more confused. Should I just try spraying several times ?
Problem is that I do not really have the funds to be buying several cans because they are supposed to be around $ 20+ each.
Any thoughts ?
Thank you again,
Tony B

the issue with the spray cans is that they don't get far enough in to the heater. they just get mold right on the surface heater vents are curvy and wrap all over the place. your issue i bet is in the actual engine compartment. well between one of the fire walls and the engine....ya know where the heater core and blower fan and all that jazz is. anyway ask your the Audi specialist if he knows how to drain the lines and if not try just opening up the blower fan and cleaning that out. shouldn't be that hard. i know on the 4 and 5 thousands its pretty simple. and you can make up some of your own spray pretty easy just get an old spray bottle and look on line for cleaning solutions. best of luck
