Default 4000 Quattro Noise???????

Hi Everyone!

This is my first posting because I just bought an '86 4000cs and it makes a thumping/grinding noise whenever I steer to the left or right. I replaced the wheel bearings and shocks, but it didn't make a difference. What do you all think it could be? CV joints? Steering pump?

Thanks a bunch!

My 4000S had a creaking noise that was due to worn strut bearings. If you have oversized tires they could be rubbing.

Check the rubber boots. If they are cracked or split, it's probably CV joints.
