Default 87 cs5000 turbo quattro-any genius out there?

275000 miles, 5 spd manual. When accelerating approx 3800 RPM,s car abruptly pauses or stops running as if turned off the key. Let off the gas pedal and then resumes running fine. Just cannot accelerate fast, must do it very gradual. Tried gas additives, fuel filter, etc. Runs great other than the previous. Still will go well over 100 MPH but must be level road and again, very gradual acceleration.
Anybody, anybody, Bueller, anybody?
thanks dudes.

5K and early 100/200 had problems with fuel tank coating pealing off and clogging the micro filters restricting fuel flow when you need it the most.

i would say that you need to cean out the cankcase breather hoses ... then check on the vacum lines running to your waste gate ... and then replacing the wastegate diaphagm would be nice ..... because it sound like you are overboosting .... look at the boost guage when this happens what does it say ... if you are reaching 1.3 and above you are overboosting and the sudden shut off is the overboost protection so you don't blow the motor or the turbo
