Default Accelerator Button

Hey guys, I have a 1987 4000s and I have noticed a long time ago that there is a small button underneath my gas pedal, does anyone have any info on this unusual button??

I think it's limiter, but maybe i'm wrong. It prevents to not hit the floor . So you can't make "pedal to the metal", i had this in my Coupe.

Is it an automatic? I had a 75 100LS and it had a kickdown button under the gas pedal. Wouldn't be suprised if that's what it is. Or possibly to kill the A/C when you go full throttle. The 90's had this switch, but they moved it from under the pedal to the throttle linkage.
