Default Audi 80 Electric Window Problem

Hi everyone,
I have a 1996 Audio 80 Quattro V6 S2. I'm new here and thought I'd ask about my electric window problem. I've searched the forum, but I'm not sure how different other models are to mine.

The electric windows work some days but not the next. On days that they work, I sometimes hit a bump in the road, and they stop working.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting?.....Relays? Dry solder joints? Cabling?

Thank you

Smile I have the same car and problem

Hi only new here also but my 1995 Audi80 quattro has a problem similar. A month ago I noticed the drivers window was starting to drag itself up instead of gliding up as usual. Not long after a few days it would get stuck half way so I started pulling it up slightly while pushing the button at the same time without a hassle. Few days later trying to help the window up it became stuck so I had to force it up and leave it up! If it wasnt so hot outside I wouldnt care so much as Id rather it up than down just incase a freak cyclone stops over but my aircon is not worthy and I have to fix the window. I tried to take the panel off but gave up as Audi have a different way of holding the panels down. I took it to a mechanic friend who took out the panel and too my horror(I was hoping the glass just came loose from the metal rod) the cabling had burned out and the regulator was overworked and out of use. Will order the parts online for around $160-200 and fit it myself hopefully I can realign the glass so that it sits properly. Basically wear n tear but once seeing the panel off its quite simple to locate the problem.
Good luck

Hi, thanks for the info. Hopefully I don't have burnt out cables. But because mine either work or don't (not the slow movement thaat you described). But I found that a lot of other people had problems with the relay, so hopefully that's it.
p.s. small world, finding another QLD owner on here

No way! I'm in alligator Ck . That's both freaky & amazing. I got my Audi last year, after being a bit disappointed with a 60s Mustang I finished restoring. So I sold it. The Audi just drives so beautifully compared to the Mustang which was terrible tbh.

Hey guys. I have just bought an Audi 80. It has the same problem with the front two windows. Air con is okay but i would still like all to work. I am a useless mechanic. If I buy new regulators for the car how much should it cost to have them fitted...I don't want to be ripped of. As for the fuse is there a separate one for the windows? any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi there, my window still not fixed. I called audi dealers and was quoted over $600 for 1 x RHF door window motor & regulator . To put in the parts I was quoted another $300 holy crap so am searching around for trusty mechanics to possibly do the searching for me through people they know etc. The windows do have their own fuse in the top right corner under the bonnet. I did the fuse checks for my ignition as it wasnt turning properly. Seems to be jammed though Ive figured it out! Overall the car is nice to drive but Im selling and upgrading to a landrover.
