Default newbie...name the part...

Does anyone know what exactly this is and what it does. It has a harness on one end and the other end connects to a hose that goes into the turbocharger. The pic link is below...

Default info

This is a 1987 5000cs turbo quattro. I did a little more research and I beleive that this is the idle stablaizer valve. Its located next to the turbocharger closer to the front window and to the rights of the air duct/air cleaner area. Does it sound right that this is the idle stabalizer?

If its idle stabiliser, it should be right where the throtle plate is.
if it is, then it allow air to bypass the throtle plate.
