car-85' 4000s quattro
it will start then turn off 3-4 times then it wont start for ten minutes. it will do this over and over again.
i am stumped, i need help

 

Do you smell a lot of fuel in the engine compartment?

Could be something causing the fuel mixture to be too rich and then the engine flooding after several starts.

 

Any idea on how old the fuel filter, and pump are?

 

I replaced the pump 2 months ago and im not sure about the filter.

 

I recently replaced the air filter, and there was a fuel leak because a nut was missing, but i fixed it and there is not a leak anymore, could that of done it? i talked to a guy who knows a lot about old audis and said it could be the cold start valve.
