Default Strut Install

Going to be installing struts on my '89 TQthis weekend. Heard that you have to pull them from the top of the fender well, and not from underneath the car. Is this true and will a spring compressor be needed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks forum

in both cases u will have to take it out of the car. and u have to pull them from underneath of the car. yes you do need spring compresos, or if you brave and stupid losen the nut the hold the spring in. if you in california, and point it into direction of NY, I will sure to recieve it by like 10min after you losen that nut.

you need regular key and some aline keays as well.
you will have to suspent the car in the air. take off the two bolts holding the strut asembly into the spindle. disconect steering linkage. unbolt the 3 bolts on top of the strun under the hood.
and remove the whole thing out.
then use spring compresor to compress the spring. and use a wrench and an alien keay together to losen the shock absorber. then remove the spring and remove a cup that holds the shock in the strut (hardest part). then reasemble and put all back together.

in the back its easier.

I did that with my Asuna using spare tire jack Please do use a spring compressor, theres nothing more scary thanplaying with alot of tension.

just the strut cartidge can be relaced from the top and no spring compressor is necessary if the car is left on the ground with the wheals on it (front) the rear you will need a spring compressor and you will need to take the shocks off the car ... good luck and be carefull

Thanks for the info, I think what I'm getting at is the strut cartridge. I have heard that if replacing that then you can remove it from the top. Otherwise I'll do it from the bottom. Thanks
