Sunroof Seal - alternative?
Hi Guys(and Gals)!
I just found out from the local dealer that the sunroof seal/gasket for my 86 4000cs Quattro is $144...yikes! Does anyone know of an alternative aftermarket source? I have already replaced it with a good used one, and it is once again leaking. I need a nice, new thick one.
Thank you,
Todd

Todd,
Are you sure that the sunroof seal is the culprit? Have you checked to see if the sunroof drains are clogged? Locate the sunroof drain tubes (front door area, somewhere I think...don't remember off the top of my head, but a manual will tell you for sure). Open the sunroof and blow compressed air through the drain tubes. That has worked for me multiple times.
It is inevitable that water gets in past the sunroof seal. That's what the drains are there for. Let us know how it works out.
