I know the 4000, 5000 and Vw quantum were built with the 5 cyl turbo diesel engine.

I have also read somewhere that the volvo 5cyl is the same, but not really sure. If it is is the bellhousing pattern the same ??

 

In the US TD was offered only on early 80's 4000 and 5000 models, by 84 the diesel option has disappeared from the US line up. VW continued and still offers diesel models. The older Volvo diesel was an inline 6 cylinder I have never heard of any similarities with Audi motors. In Europe and the rest of the world there are some real cool kick *** common rail direct injection turbo models that will really make you think about a diesel.
