Unhappy '96 Cabrio stopped running

while on the highway.
Will turn over but seems to have no spark.
Timing belt is still in place.
Are there any common failures of electrical connections or sensors that will cause this ?
I have heard that failures of the crank and/or cam sensors will cut the ignition.

Check any engine codes and check the ignition coils or packs. Thats your best bet to start.
