I know there are plenty of questions about fixing limp mode, but I am getting a mechanic to do it and he threw me a response that I'm not too sure about.

He suggested there might be a need to re-enter a bunch of information on the computer if it had been cleared by an after market scanner. Which, it may have as I tried to fix this before by clearing all the faults with another mechanic. (Unsuccessfully and I did not have time to continue playing around with it.)

Anyway, this guy said it could take about two hours to re-enter all of the settings for it if they had been cleared. I've never heard of this before and I'm pretty sure its just a speed sensor that needs to be replaced and the fault cleared.

Anyone else had to pay for two hours of mechanic services to re-enter computer settings to clear limp mode?
