My car just wont shift into park. It will go into all the other gears perfectly fine, I just have to use the e brake and keep it in neutral with the keys still in there in order to get it to park. PLEASE HELP

 

Make sure the shifter button is releasing all the way.

 

It's stuck in, so that's probably the reason it won't go into park. Do you know how to fix that?

 

Try & pull it out however you can , pliers ?

 

I've gotten it out with my nails, but it will just pop right back in

 

Okay, so I've managed to get it into park now. The buttons still pressed in though and the keys will not come out... any ideas?

 

i have the same problem. how did you fix it? i cant pull out my key unless its in park and all the other gears work fine.

 

Try to rock the car froward and back from the out side..
This happened to me one time and that work.
Never happened again. Just a thought.......

 

Tried rockin it but didn't help, tuner shop doesn't believe its the tranny like the dealer had told me. They think it's something lodged in there, but I've tooken the consol apart and found nothing. I'm afraid to go in more and just give the car to the tuners and hopefully they can figure it out. Dealer is crazy they wanted me to replace my TCU. A $1800 job. I told them they were wrong and didn't pay their diagnostic fee. If it was my TCU my gear light would be flashing on the dash and the car would act weird. They said if I replace it, it might fix it. Basically start throwing parts at it at my expense. Basically stay away from dealers. Chances are you know more than they do.

 

Is it cold?? I had that problem with an old lhs only happened in the cold. I used my hand to warm up the shifter handle and it it worked properly.
