Check Engine P2181

Check engine light came up and figured it was a sensor because the car is running fine. The mechanic said it is the cooling system making all the fuss. Thermostat housing is what he believes it is. He mentioned it will be around $600-8 altogether, I have an extended warranty, so no big deal. Anybody chime in with thoughts? Sound right?
