High Revving down hills
Hi All,
I have recently purchased a 2010 1.4 Audi A3, and have noticed that when going down hills and then breaking, the engine down shifts to a lower gear (presumably to assist with the breaking), the problem is it is a little too keen and as a result the rev's often get far too high with the down shift - hitting 5k and creating a rev whine which makes for a very unpleasant driving experience.
I have been to the Audi garage and they say its just a characteristic of such a small engine :-( it makes for such an un-enjoyable driving experience as my commute to work involves a lot of hills - I'm really regretting not getting a bigger engine.
My question is, is there any way to adjust the thresholds used by the engines ECU when changing down a gear ? is this something I can do myself or do I need to speak to an Audi dealer ?
Regards,
Rob
