P0441, things to check that I haven't already?
Hey guys/gals
I have an 02 A6 4.2, and I am getting code P0441. I checked the hoses around the EVAP Canister Purge valve, and under the spare wheel well with no sign of loose or damaged hoses. I tried replacing the gas cap as the rubber seal had a lot of cracks in it, and cleared the code with my VAG COM. The SEL went off for about a week then returned with the same code.
I ran the emissions test 01-04-070 (Fuel tank venting and valve testing, short trip) and 01-04-071 (Fuel tank leak test, short trip). 070 returned "OK" multiple times, and 071 returned "OK" as well, only 1 test. Is this enough to rule out a vacuum leak? My SEL is currently off.
I also tested resistance across the EVAP Canister Purge Valve leads, and it measures mostly 29.X ohms, but once it tested 30.4 (just barely out of spec). I haven't tested the wiring as, per the Bentley manual, I need a test light (which I don't have on hand). I also didn't test valve opening and closing yet because the hose clamps are one time use clamps, I need some clamps to replace them with. I can/will do these tests next if that's what we think should be done, just gotta buy some stuff.
The SEL and VAG COM indicate that the problem is intermittent, so this type of testing may go on for ever without seeing a problem! Any pointers?
