Rowdy at Riverside Audi, NJ
Dear all Audi Owners,
I regret to inform you of the ongoing issues with my 2005 Audi S4 at Riverside Audi, NJ. Please bare with the long story, I don't want anyone to think that I am giving anything but the truth and theentire story. I havepersonally owned 4 Audi's. I just turned 20, so maybe that will help everyone understand that I am very loyal to the Audi brand. I have owned a 1997 A4,2000 TT, 2000 S4, and I just recently purchased my 2005 S4. I haveloved each one of these cars very much, but because I am young I bought each one at very high mileage, since I am not working full time. Over the summer I decided to go all out and purchase the newerS4. I drove over to Riverside Audi in North Bergen, NJ whereI put a down payment on a 05S4. When I went to pick the car up, the front of the vehicle was heavily chipped beyond repairs. They stated that they would repaint the front of the car, but once you start repainting a car the value drops dramatically. On top of all of this, why wasn't it repaired before I came to pick the car up? I refused to take the car, and after about 2 hours they droppedthe price of theS4 in the showroom which I purchased that day. The next day I had a subwoofer professionally installed into the car with a capacitor, since everyone knows Audi is notorious for their electrical problems. About 3 weeks in, I was driving up to the mountain to go skiing and an oil light goes on. I checked the oil and it was empty, EMPTY. I called the dealership to bring the car in, and by the time I got it back to NJ I already burnt or lost 7 quarts of oil (kept refilling ti o nthe side of the road). The dealership "claimed" that it was normal for the car to burn oil. No car burns 7 quarts of oil Riverside Audi. The car was also sold to me with extremely foggy headlights, a rattle in the interior, and a radar system that didnt work properly (installed by audi). During this first visit at the dealership, theyargued with my father and I claiming that there was nothing wrong, this was after 5 days......We argued with them, and when they finally gave in, they replaced the headlights that had so much percipitation in there they had puddles in them, and they put something into the oil to gauge the oil levels. I picked the car up that night, and when I got home noticed that the headlights were not properly installed, they were sticking out of the fenders and the front bumper. The next morning driving to work, the car refused to accelerate after about 2 minutes into the drive. I had to call for a tow since the engine light was blinking. The car just blew ignition coils. After a stressful day in which I missed a day of work, I brought the car home. The car sat for 3 days, then on Monday morning I went to go to work, and the car wouldnt start. Another day of work missed. Yet again the car needed to be towed into the dealership, where they blamed it on my aftermarket system. After 3 days of them lying to us and not touching the car, the audio installer contacted the dealer and told them to run tests. They contacted me later that night discussing that the radar that we asked them to look at the last two times was causing the battery to drain, but instead of fixing it, they wanted us to bring it to the audio dealer. It wasn't his fault and had nothing to do with him, it was Audi's. My father contacted the dealership, stating that we wanted a full refund on the car, especially since we are so loyal to the brand. The dealership treated us very disrespectfully and continued to lie, telling us that these were minor issues. I don't know about anyone else, electrical failures and burning oil are not minor problems. I have now put 200 miles on the car after the first service over a month ago, equivalent to 5 days. I am now waiting on the headlights to be fixed and for them to "fix" the radar.
For everyone interested in purchasing an Audi, I say go for it, I love the cars. I posted just to warn everyone of the disrespect and lack of service at Riverside Audi, NJ. Don't purchase from Riverside Audi if you are looking for some sort of customer service. Joe Arvatz was the only helpfull person at the dealership, but unfortunately this matter is out of his hands now since he is a salesman. I know that my father had purchased 3 cars from Jack Daniels Audi, and is very happy with every transaction. I am sorry for the lengthy post, but I am extremely dissapointed that I own a 05 S4 "supercar" that doesn't run.
If anyone has any suggestions about how I go about getting a refund on a certified 05 S4, please let me know because I need a vehicle to get me back and forth to work.

Are there any other dealers nearby? I'd take it to another audi dealer and have them give it a shot. Sounds like these guys can't or just don't want to fix anything the right way. Try contacting audi directly too.
I wonder if they feel like you're easy to screw over due to your age?

I brought a 04 A8 from Riverside Audi certified(well thats what they told me when I brought it). So a week goes by and the sales guy call me and tell me that the car didnt go through the certified process. After driving the car back to the dealership(1 1/2 hour) away. They had the car for 9 days. I had a little list for them to fix. They foot board on the back passenger door was one. They said they put a new part. The piece broke again after a week. Atleast they put in the computer it was a new piece otherwise I would of had to pay 392 for the part without labor at the other dealer. The car would not start a month later. I had to get it towed to the local dealer in Willow Grove PA. There service is pretty good. They saw the piece on back door was not new but they replace the part under a parts warranty(was not covered by cpo). They said my starter went bad that why it would not start. My defoster never worked so I brought that up too. They changed the back window and connectors. The connectors was bad and they was taped to the window with duct tape. They said it look like my car had water damage cause when they removed the back seats I guess to put the window in they said it had rust on it. I had the car since the day after Thankgiving of 07. The car been in the shop for 3 weeks of the 3 months I had it. I dont believe in riverside audi certified cars. I dont think they are being that so much stuff happens to them after you buy there cars. This is my first audi. I love the car just would not go back to riverside to get another one and I will never take it back there for service or nothing else.
wow im glad i just read this posting. i was ready to take my 03 TT there for then to work on. i was hopping that this dealship would be better then Townmotors whee i bought the car. I will never go to Townmotors ever again. they suck. ill post a new tread on them for all to see.
I ended up buying 06 A6 from riverside audi but I think they just completely dont care once you walk out the door. They dont even have a courtesy to respond to phone cals, messages, emails etc. they completely ignore.
I have an issue and I am going to call Audi customer care and complain...not sure if they'll do anything about it but I'll do it anyways.

I'm not sure about ANY Audi dealer anymore. I have complaints filed with Audi Headquarters about Jack Daniels for lying to me about the car, and charging me for a certified car, even though itwas NOT Audi certified. They don't deny anything, but won't make good on the fact that they ripped me off. You can call Audi Corporate Relationships at 1-800-822-2834. However, they have no authority to do anything except record your complaint. The more complaints, the better though. You can file a compaint with NJ Attorney General's Office at 973-504-6200. The Bergen County Division of Consumer Affairs is 201-336-6400. So far, Bergen County seems to be the best at informing me of the status of my case, and the fact that Jack Daniels may be guilty of a number of unethical practices. They seem to be investigating thoroughly. The Attorney General just says the case is ongoing.
If you brought your car in several times for the same issues with no positive outcome, you may qualify under the lemon law for a vehicle. I believe that they have 3 chances to fix it.The laws in NJ are very strict, and specific about these types of cases. Find out about this type of action on your part.PLEASE, if you have problems with any dealers, don't just let it go, and try another place. Inform Audi, and also all these consumer protection agencies. The more problems which come to light with the car and the dealer, the better chance we have to get a fair resolution for everyone.

I totally agree with all of your comments regarding Riverside...
Please DO NOT buy from this dealer- especially if you are from out of state. I recently bought a "certified" 2006 A8 from this dealership. Long story short, after having the car less than a month, the lower bumper was found to have been GLUED ON from an obvious previous accident. Their excuse was that because it did not show up on carfax, they were not at fault...indeed, this should have been found during the very strict Audi certification process. The owner, Mr. Rajan is not a very truthful person at all. He promised me immediate action..it has been a month later and still no return call. This dealership is AWFUL at returnign phone calls...from the sales people to the owner himself. They are very good at "lying and denying".

idk... I bought my A4 from Riverside and primarily dealt with Joe who was really cool. Everything seems fine with the car and the Certification papers were in the car when I got it (which I looked over).. I registered my car over the phone with Audi so I mean everything is going well... The only thing is that they were supposed to fix a small dent on one of the doors and didn't... I mean I took the car anyway but they gave me a "We Owe" and set up an appointment for me at the service center... hopefully everything goes good with the repair...
