Can someone please help providing right directions on what should I do.

My 2002 Audi TT 225hp quattro 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6M) got the timing belt broken, so most of the valves were bent.

I've been doing research and looks like I have 3 options (please correct if I'm wrong)

Rebuild engine:
Intake Exhaust Valves and Guides Set (ebay #item 200545269213) $169.16
Timing belt W/ WATER PUMP TENSIONER (ebay #item 300976728449) $214.95
Mechanics work $???
Total parts cost: $384.11

Replace with used engine:
Used engine 90k miles (ebay #item 141390381734) $1,999.00
Timing belt W/ WATER PUMP TENSIONER (ebay #item 300976728449) $214.95
Mechanics work $???
Total parts cost: $2,213.95

Replace engine head and timing belt:
Engine head - used (ebay #item 191221081944) $748.64
Timing belt W/ WATER PUMP TENSIONER (ebay #item 300976728449) $214.95
Mechanics work $???
Total parts cost: $963.56

I keep hearing that replacing the engine is cheaper (). Because of the list of prices of my options I can't understand why buying parts for $384.11 + work is more expensive than a $2k engine + work + timing belt replacement (to avoid same issue).

I call a mechanic shop and they told me $5,200 is the cost for replacing with a 80k used engine. So, it's about 3 thousand dollars for installing an engine ?

Any local mechanic (Houston Texas) that would be willing to do the job btw?
