Default Help/advice needed! Newer or lower milegae transmission

I have a 2002 Audi Allroad (107,000 miles). I bought this car 2 months ago unaware of the issues which is that it has a torque converter code so I have been looking at the options. I have about $3,000 I can put into the car so I have been looking at used transmissions and can find some but the advice I need is it better to go older with less mileage or newer with more mileage? Also someone said to get a new/rebuilt torque converter to go into it when they do the swap but I am having a hard time finding information about the torque converter and a local place said they don't know what one it is just have to take it off at bring it to them, does anyone have any ideas on prices or where to get them and will rebuilt be safe to get. I can only afford to do this job once and need to get at least 5 years out of the car as that is how long the loan is. Would like opinions on what you all would do and recommend my best options are. Thank you!
