Detailing Help
I am looking for some good company in CT that does car detailing.
Do you guys recommend any one ?
Or is it better to do it by youself ? If yes then what products use and what are the steps.
Thanks
I am mainly interested in exterior detailing.

I look at it this way - you can pay someone to do it for you, but in the end, it's just a guy working for a paycheck. Granted there are a lot of people out there who will do right by you because they take pride in their work, which is excellent, but you have a vested interest in the car, which presumes you'll do a very nice job. If it's a matter of paying someone because you just haven't done this stuff before and have no one to show you the ropes, ask around and I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who is reputable and will take care of your car. But if not, seriously just spend some money, get your compounds and supplies, and do it yourself - you'll find that it's fun and you will probably surprise yourself. It is your car after all - it's in your best inerests to keep it in top shape, and you'll be able to look at it when done and be happy that you put in the time and effort and got it done yourself.
Well if i do it myself i know i do it right and i dont have to worry about someone messing with my car.
I just need to know what products and what steps maybe there is some kind of guuide.
Thanks

When I did my car last weekend I used a 3-step process from Meguiars (I posted about it in the Detailing forum - not a lot of traffic in there so it's right near the top), but I usually use the following products when I do an all-out job on the car:
Mothers or Meguiars clay bar kit
Paint cleanser
S100 wax (available from Harley-Davidson shops - there's another product called P21S which is identical but in a larger can)
Armor All tire gel (the kind that you apply with an included sponge - I used to use black magic Tire Wet spray, but the gel is far superior)
Microfiber towels ONLY - I apply all the compounds using them - no wax pads or terry cloths ever
Orbital buffer to remove compounds
Blue Coral Dri-Clean for carpets/upholstery
Lexol leather conditioner (or a high-quality leather cleaner/conditioner sold at a leather store such as Wilson's, which sells leather coats)
Any brand of foaming glass cleaner
The detailing section has some posts from some guys who've been detailing a LONG time, and possibly even professionally, and there's a lot of knowledge in there as to the proper steps to take to fix any given detailing issue. Take a walk through and read some of that stuff and it'll probably answer just about anything you're wondering. Hope it helps
