Default One-Step Hologram Removal and DONE!

One-Step Hologram Removal and DONE!

Recently one of my co-workers purchased a used Dodge Avenger and I'm sad to say the place where he bought it buffed it out.

For the life of me I don't understand how anyone can stand back and look at this type of atrocious work and then think to themselves...

Yes... this looks good!

Be that as it may, last night while buffing out this old 2-door Chevy we thought we would put the new Wolfgang Uber All-In-One to the test to see if we could remove the holograms and restore an acceptable finish.

In other words, we wanted to see if by doing only ONE STEP we could,

1. Remove the holograms - Holograms are the swirl pattern inflicted by the misuse of a rotary buffer.

2. Restore gloss and clarity to the clearcoat

3. Leave the paint sealed and protected

Holograms - The curse of the detailing industry - Especially new and used car dealerships.

The ugly looking stripe pattern you see in the paint are holograms.

This dully, hazy scratch pattern is the result of someone that either doesn't know what they are doing or someone working for someone that has not provided them with the right products, pads and education to do the job right.

Here's a little camera flash to really light up the holograms...

Wolfgang Uber All-In-One = White Hybrid Polishing Pad + Flex 3401

Process
  • Speed 5
  • 8 Section Passes
  • Firm downward pressure to start with for the first 6 section passes
  • Light pressure for the last 2 section passes

If you do a lot of production detailing, that is you're doing one "Paint Care Step" besides the normal washing, drying and claying if needed, then here's a all-in-one product that has enough bite to remove serious holograms when used with a foam polishing pad but without leaving any micro-marring which can be common to a lot of one-step cleaner/waxes and AIO's.

On Autogeek.net

Wolfgang Uber All In One - 16 ounce

Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher

6.5 Inch Hybrid Power Finish White Pad

Thanks Travis for trusting us with your Dodge Avenger!
