Trouble getting car clean
I havent begun to wax or detail my car yet but I figured this would be the best place to post this. It seems no matter what i do i cant get my car clean. I use Meguires Gold class car wash, with 2 microfiber cleaning tools(one for the top half, the other for the bottom). I washt he car thoroughly using a circular motion and rinsing off the mitts/sponges after each panel, but when I finish and rinse the car of I still end up with a layer of grime in different patches on the car that I can clearly see being removed when I run my fingers across it. Ive tried rewiping these areas with a damp cloth, but then I end up with lines of the same grime once it dries. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?
Wow where do you live? Gold Car wash shampoo & conditioner along with some turtle wax, tire cleaner, leather polish, invisible window and my cars looking fresh.
I just use old (very clean) white under shirts, there really smooth and do a great job, usually takes about 5 or 6 to finish cleaning it though. I only use a microfiber cloth for my leather...

Back to the OP:
I'm not sure how grime could be on your paint after you've washed the body? I used to have a similar problem where I would wash my cover and once I was finished drying the vehicle there would be a layer of dust...not grime. Grime is residue you find in between your door jambs and on your engine or tires. On your car's body it's a little hard to believe especially after you handwash it....
Anyways, If it is dust you meant then here's a couple reasons as to why it's happening and some solutions.
1. Problem: Your car has a static charge and attracts a lot of floating dust. This is a common problem.
Solution:To take care of this you have to do a stage 1 buff with a polish. This would fix the problem for sure.
Alternatively you can try a paint cleanser and clean your paint surface. Once complete apply a quality wax (not turtle wax). A quality wax which is now available over the counter is Autoglym HD wax.
2. Problem: There is a lot of pollen, grass, or debris where you live. Or there is also nearby construction going on.
Solution: If this is the case then there's only so much you can do. Like I said above in #1, apply a couple layers of wax once the paint has been cleansed and that will protect your vehicle and make it easy to clean. But if your car isn't stored inside and there is higher levels of dust floating around then it is bound to get on your car.
Again, please do not wash your car with a tshirt. Audi car's have very nice metallic paint and you are only going to do a dis-service to your ride by dulling the paint finish.
I just posted this thread on washing your car so have a look here
