Default 2007 Audi A4 Electrical Transmission Error?

Hello All, while driving my girlfriend to work this morning, something odd happened to my 07 Audi A4 2.0T. It is an automatic transmission with multitronic. My ESP light came on, and then I noticed at the next traffic light my car would not upshift passed first gear unless I manually made it do so, using the Multitronic shifter. Once I get it into second gear I can disable multitronic and it will shift normally all the way to sixth gear and back down to first. But again the problem occurs at stop signs and traffic lights it will Rev all the way up to 4000RPM and will not shift into second gear with out manually taking over control. I took it to my local mechanic to have it checked out, but his transmission specialist was out for the day (figures). But he hooked it up to the computer and said the only code he was showing was for a failing brake switch??
I hope someone could share some insight with me, I was thinking maybe a faulty solenoid but of course I cant be sure. I am new to this forum so if I have left out any details that could be prevalent please do not hesitate to ask because I love my A4 (51,104 miles). 1,104 Miles over warranty!
Thanks for the advise!!!!
