When I insert a disc (burned or original) into my single CD player I get an message saying CD ERR 1??? Nothing plays and the CD just remains in the deck till I hit eject.

The last couple of weeks CD's have been skipping...etc. I do have a CD changer but that is working fine. I tried to insert a CD cleaner disc.. but it wouldn't read or play that either.

Searched everywhere for post on this but found nothing. Some have had Err 2 or 3 messages but not Err 1. I don't have the Bose manual either. Never came with the car.

Any help would be appreciated before I take it to the dealer. According to my CPO book this is covered.

take it in if its covered if not take it apart and clean it out

 

needs to be cleaned

 

try a cd lens cleaner (a cd that has a set of cleaning brushes on it) first before pulling apart

 

try a lens cleaner, if that doesnt do it, you have a bad CD player. even if it isnt bad, i would suggest going aftermarket anyways. the ability to hook up and IPOD, your bluetooth cell phone, satellite radio, and lots of other crap is growing. Not to mention prices on high end decks have dropped a ton.
