Im going to be putting a car computer in my ride with a 7" touch screan and all the jazz, Nav, dvd, the whole works.. I have a good used laptop and instead of buying a new computer made for the car i was woundering if there was anyway to power on the laptop without actually having to hit the button on the laptop, so say when i turn on the car the laptop turns on, i know i can acomplish this with a seperate computer we did it in my friends subaru, just we dont know how we could do it with the lap top, its a cood computer just the screen is broken 1.66 pent 3, 512 ran and a brand new 120 gig hard drive plenty for the car.. wanted to try and use it for something...

 

you would need a 19V transformer like the one you plug into the cigar lighter (check the voltage supply the laptop needs) then its simple to permanently connect the laptop by wiring the transformer to a switched live (live when ignition is on only)

 

and that would allow the lap top to turn on and off by itselt when the car turned on?
