D.I.Y. after market stereo in UR-s6
ok for whatever reason i could not find the acc wire in the dash for the stereo... so i took matters into my own hands :P
first thing I did was pull the knee panels out which is real easy 2 10mm bolts in the black plastic panel and then 2 10mm bolts in the trim colored panel just south of the steering wheel (i will take pictures and upload later for more detail)
then pull the in car fuse panel loose which comprised of 2 10mm bolts holding it in... then she falls out below (hencepulling those 2 panels)
then i tested all the leads to the block with keyoff and key on and found my acc source spot 11 horns as you might know .. (or at least my car the horns do not work with the ignition off... weird but whatever)
then i kinda cut a corner with this cruddy lip but i have a full time job taking names and kicking a** so i used a fairly reliable tap conector which i syliconed to keep it together.
i the ran the tap'd wire through fuse spot 20 which was empty on my car but not on the auto matic A6 i couldnt get real fancy here since i dont have factory parts so i made due with my collection of "LOTS OF STUFF"
from there i ran the new acc wire with factory wire looms in the dash and ziptied it to them ...nothing says tacky like wire drooping down while your driving a new GF to the swanky club and you car seems to fall apart
what the fuse box looks like when done
oh dont forget to put the fuse back in the spot it came from ;P
...disclaimer
I am not responsible for some loose translation of car knowhow ..i just figure stuff out and do not claim to be a GURU so if you follow the guide and your car catches fire... then you prolly should have went to quality auto sound haha
let me now what you think rate it 1-10 1 being cow poo 10 being t-bone steak
