Default Dension IPOD mp3 with concert I deck

Hi,

Anyways here is how it goes.

I purchased the Dension Ice link plus from bestbuy as they are clearing them out. I then brought my car to futureshop ( yes yes I know ... bad choice I was really impatient and didn't have the tools to remove the deck ) to get it installed. I get a call a hour later telling me that everything is installed but the broke part of my wood trim ( they were checking what type of speakers my car took because there system told them 6x8's and those obviously would not fit ) and will be replacing it or refunding my money. I am pretty easy going so I told the tech I will evaluate it once I get in.

So I arrive, I see the damage to my car, its bad, but not horrible, I opt to have them fix it as if I want to sell my car thats damage that can devalue it.

I get in the car and turn on my deck, its not lightening up, I ask the tech about it, I don't know how he didn't think I would notice but whatever, seemingly surprised he says "O was it working?, o yes it was" and him and the other technician proceed to look at the deck. He then sits me down and tells me that its because I have replaced my cd changer with a mp3 player and its just the way it works, and If I want to keep it in it will not work. I was a puzzled by this as Im no electrician but being the it industry for 15 years I have a idea about how electronics should and shouldn't work. I asked him to test this as I know the Dension install is only a 10 - 20 minute job tops with the right tools as this concert deck just slides out and you have access to the whole back of the car. He tells me well we just put it back in but we tested it and in fact its the mp3 thats causing the problem. Reluctantly I say ok.... well maybe thats something I could live with and proceed back to the office.

Now on the way home I notice in there haste to get me out they left the deck remove tools in the car, so I decided to test his hypothesis and remove the mp3 player controls from my car once I get back. I arrive at my office open my car door to get my concert deck manual out the the trunk, sit back down on my seat and hear something drop. I look on the ground to find 1/3 of my speaker grill on the floor. Ok now im upset, somehow they neglected to mention they broke my speaker grill for my car... fair enough... maybe well.. maybe they just f'd up.....

Right.... so now the un-installation of the mp3

This process took me no more then one minute to undo what he did ( unplug the mp3 plug in the changer I didn't remove the ground wire as I didnt think that would cause any addition problems as its only a ground) still no lights on the display ... so I am thinking to myself... ok he told me he tested this and it worked.

So now I am pissed.

1. my wood trim is broken
2. my speaker panel mysteriously is now broken
3. somehow my deck is not compatible with a light on my decks display, or I have been lied to.

I contacted the stores dept manager, and now have a meeting with some team-lead on Sunday.

So ANYWAYS

My question is as follows, has anybody else had any problems with the Dension ice plus mp3 and a 1998 a4 2.8 quatto car with a concert II deck in it, is it a known problem? am I just prone to some strange anomalies ? I have contacted the Canadian wester support for Dension and am awaiting a phone call.

Any support would be appreciated.

thanks

Default RE: Dension IPOD mp3 with concert I deck

Well so far, they are replacing all the broken stuff except for the radio. Futureshop informed me that I will need to find some proof that the lcd's death was related to the installation, so I spoke with audi and they told me that bascially the Dension's ice plus installation should not have caused the LCD die and the that there is no "bulb" that lights that part of the deck up, so with any luck I will have it in written form from the dealship and will have a replacement deck.

Here's hoping....
