Default Grom adaptor

Hi i have a A3 2003 with a Symphony 2 head unit, wanted bluetooth and ipod integration without changing the head unit, i purchased a grom usb ipod and bluetooth module. The thing is a disaster bluetooth is ok and seems to work reasonably well, the ipod is useless sounds like its in a tin can, full volume is about the same as 12 on a cd. It locks up doesnt always start correctly if at all. Get a phone call it gets stuck and goes into a start stop cycle. It keeps dropping back into USB mode and then i have to change it back to ipod everytime i start the car. If you stall the car and restart it the thing locks up and crashes. This involves turning off the stereo and unplugging the ipod and starting from scratch again.

Has anyone got one of these or a similar product that works, or do i buy a genuine adaptor and a separate bluetooth carkit. Is there a decent headunit i can buy that will look good in the dash and still have bluetooth and ipod/iphone integration???
