hey guys,went to AUDI the other day because my guage cluster,that part where it has the words,L.C.D i think,the words are all disfigured,and they told it would be $750 without installation.is that right,and also am i better off ordering it my self and having some one else install it?

 

I suggest you remove the gauge cluster and inspect, disconnect then reconnect the wires to the display. If you could define "disfigured" more...or take a picture would help. The reason I ask is because it's a digital feed to the display, and if the digital words are messed up, the problem's NOT the display itself, rather the "brain" that feeds the display - or the wires that carry the digital words aren't making a proper contact, and thus messing up the text. If the display itself is bad (something hit it?), then it'll have to be replaced.

 

I had mine out yesterday... not difficult if you are good/patient at taking things apart... disconnect and reconnect all wires, then see if there's any change... does anyone know where to get aftermarket clusters? with different colors perhaps red? cheaper then stealership?

i got the AUDI back a day early (WEDNESDAY)and payed for all the repairs-$6,100,and they said the guage cluster is broken,should i just give in and pay $850,or try and see for myself?

 

6100?!! What all did they do to your car!??? Well the problem is that Audi is going to have to change the mileage on your new cluster to read your old mileage. That's not something you can do yourself. And they won't just change the milage unless they installed it.
