Help with Speed Wire
Guys,
Sorry to ask this, but I have done searches for the past 2 days on the web and this site to figure a few questions. I am installing a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 into my S4. ANy help would be appreciated.
1.) How do you tap into the Speed Sensor wire on a 2001 Audi B5 S4. I can't find anything definitive, I do have 2 grey wires going into the CanL and CanH on my old Symphony Head unit if that means anything, I also have a red digital clock on the tac.
2.) I have read that without the radio hooked up the Dealer may not get correct readings from their scan tools when doing diags on the car, is this true and if so what can you do about it?
Thanks,
James

RE: Help with Speed Wire
the radio is easy if you buy the proper cable connector, speed sensor well you could go to CAN high bus on the DLC connector or the VSS sensor or even direct to the dash speedo as for you last question ( not true )

RE: Help with Speed Wire
Ok, Sorry I will be more descriptive, I am installing a Pioneer AVIC-Z1, has a Pink wire that they call Speed Sensor. It provides speed and dead reckoning to the NAv unit. I guess I just don't understand what CAN really does. I have been told there is a wire in the Cluster I can use, but I really don't want to go up there. If the CANBus can give it to me at the Headunit.
Thanks,
James

RE: Help with Speed Wire
The speed sensor will get the AVIC to be able to zoom in and give an accurate "life like" view of the navigation. Navigation will still work w/o the speed sensor wire connected, but only give you an overhead map view, receiving positioning information from the GPS antenna. The same holds true for the reverse wire. I wish I could help more.
