Default HID upgrade

So I installed my halo lights on my car and I'm trying to run HID lights, regular, high beam, and fog. My can has 160 amp alternator. Any ideas what I need to get to make them work?

do you already have the kit? If not ddm tuning has them. But its not recommended you install hids for the high beam as they take a second or two to chrage and hid ballast dont like being turned on and off they way you use high beams unless you get bi xeon lamps.

Yea I already have the three sets of bulbs and balasts. I don't use brights that much, but where I live I am able to leave them on and drive cause there aren't many people driving at night near my house, and I'm sure the HID mains will provide enough light, it's more of a style thing for me than a practical approach. I'm just trying to figure out how much larger an alternator to go with. If I can't do the brights as HIDs it's not a big deal, but I'd still like a little left over juice for any other lighting upgrades I might want to do.

Well i dont believe you will need a new alternator. I have my Fogs and lows with high beams and the work just fine. And yes like u said the lightoutput is far greater once u have the fogs with lows. I was driving a g35 while my car was in the shop and once i got it back the ground looked 10 times brighter then the g35 with hids.

I know I need a new alternator, when I tried installing the fogs they didn't work at all. And the HID brights work when the car is off, but when I'm driving with my accessories on the HIDs blink when I switch the highs on and the radio volume drops just a little bit. So I know I don't have enough juice.

Yes. It's not complicated to plug in the balast and lights. I know I need a larger alternator cause when the car is off I can pull the lever back and the brights come on, but when the car is on and the lights are on the brights flicker and the radio volume goes down after a quick pause from trying to power the brights. Several of my friends that have different cars have had to instal alternators on their cars for their HIDs to work. But no ones sure exactly how much larger to go.

When I did my HID fogs this past week, I had to upgrade the wiring to the fog ballasts - I swapped out the smaller tie-in wiring I had for larger gauge wires. However, I still pulse the dash lights when I turn them on, so I'm installing a 30A relay and controlling that with the switch. I'll run heavy gauge wire the whole way, and that should do the trick.
