ignition switch 30 amp post meltdowns
Just got a 98 a4 b5 turbo quattro with the 30 amp post frizzled and wires on both sides melted. Is there a way to reroute this circuit to outside of the ignition barrel? Reason being I've read of them going out 2, 3 or more times days/weeks apart. Since this seems to be common and soldering ends up in the dayum ignition/key barrel is somewhere between a beach and impossible... Seems that as long as only that wire is extended from internal connection to outside, then the 30 amp post (fuse?) and back to other side this would make life a sunny beach. If/when it melts pop fuse out, replace with new and carry on. Anyone done or seen this done? As for my mechanical repair skills run more to ranch tractors and simple car stuff a cousin whose career was auto mechanic is having a hard time finding a way to assure solid solder connection on this known snafu. Any info or thoughts very welcome and appreciated. Thx.
