Need help with amp install.. quick
Hey guys i went to get my amp kit installed today and we ran out of time, but just before we figured out that we need help installing the Line out converter !
I was told to tap into the rear speaker and it will work that way.
The thing is.. is there any way to to hook it up from the factory amp ?
It seems a lot easier than to pull both rear speakers and tap them into the LOC..
If not.. what color speaker wire do we tap into.. there is a space where we can tap into each side easily without taking off both side panels, which are a pain to get off.
any help here would be great

I have the concert II system in my car so i can't help you out but i would try searching for a wireing diagram on this site or just google it. Or whne you look at the back speaker there should be two wires coming out from it and those will be the wire that you'll tap into...hopfully someone who has the bose system with give you more info

Alright, now I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I believe that Audi uses a common ground system to the factory amplifier. Referring to the pic link i posted earlier, I think that you can tap off of the wires marked RR (for right rear) and LR (for left rear) and then follow the directions that are provided with the LOC you are trying to put in on how to hook up the whole deal when using a common ground system. Like I said I'm not sure if this is all correct but I think that is...

Wait you have a rear amp?
If you have an external amplifier, your head unit has to get low level signals to it somehow, usually through wires
You should be able to look at your head unit if you can get it out and find wire colors to tap at the amp, especially if you have that sticker.

The wires on my bose for the rear speakers were purple-rr, purple with black stipe-rr negative. green-rl, green with black strip rl negative. I'm going off of memory right now, so I would probably pull the headunit out to double check.

i think fakie is right. If i had my car i would go and check but im almost sure one of the wires is purple and the other is green or brown. im not forsure. I opened my side panel between the front and rear seat and theres a little opening where my converter fits. I dont have bose just a symphony II.

i would prooly hook the loc up to the speaker wires as close to the head unit as posssible. hooikng it up post amp could create problems as the loc is only used to convert high levels of fifty watts or less. i dont know what your stock amp runs but it is more than fifty. hooking it up after the amp could have adverse effects and possibly blow your subs and maybe your amp cause that would create way too much distortion if not properly hooked up.
