How did you make out with this problem? I'm having the same issue. I also had the outside temp and shift indicator bulbs burn out awhile ago and fixed it with this procedure....
http://www.12v.org/maintenance/repairs/backlight.php thanks
but I'm not sure the odo light is accessible beacuse odo's are typically a sealed unit to prevent millage roll back.

HI
it is just a bulb with a baynet style connection like the others on the rest of the cluster .
please be aware if you buy off ebay most are L.E.D s and need the bulb brightness turned up (same controle that sets the clock) also they have to be connected to positive and negative . so if theye don't work turn ignition off completely and rotate 180 deg .
if the led comes out of baynet housing please be carefull how you replace as you can cause a short if your out by 90 deg like i did now there is no power to bulb [:@].
hope this helps.
