Replacing a faulty Symphony 2 (II) Unit in A6
Hi, a bit new to this.
I have a faulty Symphony II Head unit that was working a short while ago.
This has 6 CDs, radio and cassette.
The CDs and radio are working, and I assume that the cassette is working (but not tested).
It was also powering and using a PhatNoise phatbox in the back or my A6 Avant (53 Reg) and this is what I am now having a problem with.
I know that the Phatbox is working, since I have tried it in one of my friends cars.
Looking at the back of the Symphony II, there is a 20 pin connector and according to information, pin 16 is for power out, which I guess is used to supply 12V to the Phatbox.
However, when I put a meter on the pin, there is no voltage present.
The main fuse on the back of the unit is fine, but I suppose that this is for the entire unit, which is mostly working so it stands to reason that this fuse is ok.
So.. I am looking at a replacement unit. There are a number of these on Ebay, but they seem to say A4/A6 and some say just A4.
The part numbers differ but the description seems to be the same.
Question is, can I simply get one of these replacements or is there car coding required to do this?
Thanks in advance.

I have no idea whether this supplier still has them in stock but you may want to call and see if they do and fix your issue for $39.
