Stereo wont turn off
Hey all,
Maybe it's me but i fitted a stereo in my 80 and used the wiring stuff from halfords but now it wont turn off with the ignition. is this somethin that i did or didn't do or is this a fault with the audi wiring not being able to turn it off. Cheers. Newbie

RE: Stereo wont turn off
simple one here its the live and memory wires ( red permanent live orange to switched live "memory" ) you need to switch them round so you have red to orange and orange to red, im surprised halfords didn't tell you that or you didn't read the data

Cheers dave,
Although not a major issue, Having to turn the stereo off manually every time i leave the car was getting kinda annoying. Cheers for your help again mate. And as for me not reading the data properly.......... your probably right. Chris. Merry Xmas.

RE: Stereo wont turn off
you need to wire it up to a switched live which is only live when the ignition is on ( that will be the red wire on the connector ) orange is permanent live for the memory, happy hols
edit: red is permanent live and orange is switched live

RE: Stereo wont turn off
I will be installing a aftermarket head unit into my A6. The factory Delta unit has several problems, but one thing I do like about it is that I can turn on the radio without having to switch on the ignition. I would like to have have this feature with my aftermarket unit. I don't want to wire it hot all the time, because I still want the unit to turn off when I turn off the car. I was thinking of a secondary power feed switch to the radio for when I want to listen to the radio and not switch on the ignition. Has anyone tried to do this?
