Subs questions- Dynamat? HELP
Have a 2004 Audi A4 USP 3.0
This has probably already been asked but...
Wanting to put my 12' Polk Audio subs in the new ride, but dont want the rattling trunk noise from before. This is a luxury vehicle, and i want it to stay that way. Is dynamat the answer? if so, how much? just the trunk? how effective is it? Does anyone with subs see a difference in speed, handling, or anything of that nature with the vehicle? tell me your thoughts- Thanks

RE: Subs questions- Dynamat? HELP
Dynamat is the way to go. I used Dyanmat Extreme on all 4 of my doors, rear deck lid, and entire trunk area and it really makes a difference in reducing road noise, and improving sound quality.
If your question regarding speed, handling, etc., is a reference to the additional weight from the Dynamant, then that isn't a factor. The material isn'tthat heavy, and i would say i probably laid out a total of5 lbs, tops, in my car.

Yea I've never used dynomat personally but I would still recommend it if you're looking to keep rattling down. I'd prob do the trunk first and see how it sounds and then if you think you need to do the rest. I think you will probably have some rattle no matter what, just about how much you can tolerate.

one thing i can almost guarantee that will rattle is your license plate, (take a little dynomat and stick it behind there).

i would go with it i have a JL 12in W7 and i put the dynomat in and it has helped me out alot with stoping most of the rattle. i would do it deff helps clean up the sound

RE: Subs questions- Dynamat? HELP
I would still opt for Dynamat either way. I have 2 Fosgate 10's in my trunk in a ported box, and my trunk (and license plate)rattles like crazy....even with Dynamat. While Dynamat isn't the end-all/cure-all for rattles, it will greatly reduce the amount of rattles, and again, improve overall sound quality.

RE: Subs questions- Dynamat? HELP
The only rattleing i got was a little above the driver head (took of lights and shoved felt in there), and the clips that hold the shelf on (took the clips off and the shelf still stays just fine with no rattle. The only rattle left is the one only audible from the outside. I would definetly try it without dynomat first, but thats what everyone seems to use one of my friends swears by it for rattles. They do sell cheaper nock offs at some auto parts stores.
