Default subwoofer install ?

I installed two subs in my a4 bose stereo. I tapped in to my right rear stock sub by splicing two a/v cables, connecting them and left the rear factory subs on. It sounds pretty good I was just wondering if i should change anything like connect my input to the factory amp but im assuming its the same wire, or if I should remove my old rear subs leaving it empty so the bass will travel easier? any comments are much appreciated Thanks, Josh

I had no idea you could put aftermarket subs in by splicing into the factory system? I didn't think the system could power them?

i recently disconnected my rear sub speakers and only have subs in the trunk hooked up....

i had been driving around for like 8 months with both subs in the trunk and my rear deck hooked up and the rear deck speakers caused a lot of vibration...they also put too much noise from the bass into the cabin of my car..

now i have a much cleaner hit of the subs and i feel it a lot more.

i have a 98 B5....so my "Factory subs" are the rear speakers in the deck. I left them in because I did not want to take them out and before i realized this new method sounded so good it was only an experiment.

The important thing is picking up a line level input, rather than a high level input (which would require the evil high/low converter). I'm a big proponent of going straight from the HU and routing the wires away from any inteference sources (don't want to depend on quality and routing of factory wires). Tapping in at the rear amp is obviously much easier, and if you're happy with the sound then leave it that way.
