Default Updated install

"Team Skunkworks" is ready to unveil the updated install in my S4.

1st, I've modified the McIntosh MX4000 for a DIGITAL AES/EBU XLR output!

2nd, the Rane RPM-26z's (Digital Signal Processor) modified for 12VDC use using a DC/DC convertor

I've modified the MX4000's volume control to adjust the Rane's output. In order to do this, and still allow the MX4000 to control the output (radio/AUX/CD - digital), I bypassed the volume control, essentially making the AUX and radio at full output. I'm working on making the radio presets manipulate the Rane's presets...but it's quite a challenge at this point.

3rd, NEW ARC AUDIO 4200SE and 2300SE amplifiers! I've installed them on a heavily figured piece of birch plywood, and stained the top to match the Audi's trim. MANY coats of gloss were applied to help the 12" red cold cathode tubes give it some bling. The wire's been protected by sleeving and heat shrink. A pair of 4" fans blows air on the center of the heatsinks, and escapes around the base of the floating amps.

More to come shortly...including new kickpanels, A-pillars and dash CD player installation.

Default RE: Updated install

ALL of the stereo related wires (power, speaker, RCA, XLR digital, ethernet) have been wrapped in sleeving from: www.wirecare.com

I've modified the McIntosh MX4000 CD player's illumination from the original blue/green to Audi red:
