V1 Install Q --- Worked, now it doesn't
I hardwired my V1 about a year ago when I first got my '07 S4 using the fuse connection, and the detector worked perfectly for about 3-4 months, then started getting intermittent power, and then eventually nothing. I have checked the fuses and the wiring and all is as it should be (no blown fuses, no codes), but I can't get the hardwire to run the detector. I hate having the cord dangle from the detector on the windshield, but am living with it now, as I do still enjoy a spirited drive. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the thoughts! It's a fairly new unit, so shouldn't be a problem with the wiring...well, a year old now...but have been using the regular cord since it winked out the first time 'round, with no issues.
Anyway, bought an in-line fuse connector, which didn't seem to help at all...but now have the line directly linked to the fuse for the garage door opener (which I thought was ingition-on only, but the detector stays on when the car is off [:@]), and it works fine...who knows what the deal is...just have to remember to turn on and off now.

The reason your V1 is staying on is because of the connection to the garage door opener location. That has constant power, so just hardwire it to the ingnition so you have turn key power on and off.

Not sure what you mean, it"has constant power," as I am not able to operate the garage door opener when the car is in the ignition-off without a key.
I've hardwired radar detectors (including V1s) before and anytime I used a fuse that is associated with an accessory-off with iginition-off has always worked.
Appreciate your suggestion...will give it a try!
