Default Bumper paint match: To blend or not to blend?

I plan on getting an S4 front bumper and having it professionally painted to match my silver A4. The painter I spoke with said he could paint match it and paint it off the car, or he could paint match it and blend the paint on the fenders for an additional $50. I know the blending technique is very common, and probably preferred most of the time, but I just wanted to know what most of you guys thought.

Thanks Pa4ul. I'm definitely leaning toward getting it blended. Unless, of course, a bunch of people chime in here and completely contradict what you said, lol.

yea well my body guy told me that its best to blend so it wont look kinda funky with the stock paint getting faded after time. U can tell where the blend stops on the parts where the sun hits but the difference there is not noticable to much unless ur paying attention to it like iwas. Glad i could help.

You've been a great help, thanks! I've decided to go ahead and spend the extra $50 for the blending.

Good move. Have them scan your existing paint and come up with the mixture (this will account for sun fade), and then shoot the bumper and blend it. You'll probably not even notice the "stop" line.

Oh definately get it blended...

Even with paint mixed via code, not scanned/matched, blending was the best way to go.. after it dried, I couldnt tell where it ended and old paint started...
