Default Staggered Wheels

Hey guys,
I'm about to get a 2002 A4 1.8T quattro and was wondering if staggered rims work with the AWD system. This might be a noob question, but i was looking at rims that are 18 x 8.5 in the front and 18 x 9.5 in the back. Will this work?

The width of the rim doesn't matter so much.
However, what you then need to do is get front and rears with the same circumference, else you will get different rotational speeds.
I would not do it. The Quattro AWD system is extremely well engineered to cope with traction controland I'd guess that overtime the different sizes would cause damage.
