Okay, I read around on the other threads, the DIY and here, and I have not found any information on my specific topic. I hope this thread is in the right section, I apologize in advance if it is not. - I hope it's general enough!!

First, I have a 2001 A4 1.8T, Manual Quattro. Two years ago I had the alternator replaced after it went bad. Last week, my voltage dropped again and I feared that it was the alternator again. After quick checking the battery, which came back okay, I headed over to the local Audi dealer. Didn't quite get all the way there!! But, I got jumped and made it the rest of the way.

Audi called me the next day and told me that the battery, starter, AND the alternator were all testing fine; however, two cables from the alternator to the battery were bad. The alternator IS putting out the 14 volts required; however, only 9-10 volts is getting to the battery from these cables.

Cable part numbers are:
8D1971225C (Positive Battery Cable)
8D1971349AA (HARNESS)

Audi quoted me $900 for parts and labor. What I am looking for, and would greatly appreciate any help what so ever, is some sort of wiring diagram or schematic so I could change these wires out myself. Of course, if anyone has intament knowledge with these parts or this area of the car, any guidance would also be appreciated.

I have browsed the internet looking for any pictures, diagrams, blogs, and have thus far come up empty handed. No idea is a bad one at this point!!

Well, I'll guess I either put this in the wrong section or it got covered up quickly by new posts... either way, here's an update:

I just ran a jumper last night from the alternator back up to the battery. This fixed everything, bypassing whatever was wrong in the harness. So far, the voltage is staying right at a perfect 14.

This was definitely an unconventional fix, but, hopefully, only temporary.
