Default 1.8t fault :(

hey,

ive got an intermittant fault on the car, its a 95 1.8t.

at times, itll accelerate normally and then hit a point (usually around 3000rpm but has been different) where i cant go any faster.. if i try to the car jerks forward then back and remains at the same speed. i can go faster just by accelerating at a slower rate carefully.

this fault usually goes away by itself and after a restart.

any ideas??

cheers, paul

Is it an a4? I didn't even know they made a 1.8t in 95.
Sry but I have no clue as to what that prob could be. Good luck in figuring it out.

okay all, i think this may be fixed cause it hasnt happened at all today.

i replaced the ect sensor yesterday but had installed it incorrectly (im gonna do a quick writeup on how to avoid doing it wrong like i did), so today ive sorted that and this stalling problem hasnt happened today - somebody on another board said it could be limp mode and this can happen without a Cel. So im hoping thats the end of it.

the quicker i get a vagcom the better i think.
