1998 Audi wir haben ein Problem!!

Quatro
Auto transmission

When the car is shifting up its fine but when i let go off the gas lets say between lower gears 1-3 it does the kicking back of what you would do in a manual transmission when you down shift to a lower gear at the improper speed for the gear.
Is this known for these types of Audi's transmissions or do i have a problem at hand?
