Good morning Audi forums, I am new to the forum. My question is; is the torquing of a 2.8 30 valve head the same as a 1.8 20 valve?

I thank you very much for your reply and thank you also for the welcoming. While I have your ear my other question is I'm going to reuse the head bolts is that a problem?

 

I've heard of people reusing the TTY bolts with no issues. Frankly, I hate the stupid things. Yes, they may be more "advanced" in their design but.. I think it's more a bean counter element than anything.

As far as the torque value on the heads, I would say they are probably close enough to each other as to not make a difference. What year model are you talking about and I'll see I can dig anything up.

 

thanks Dave 944 I appreciate your reply to my message. It is a 1999 A6 Avant 2.8 30 valve Quattro. I have put the car back together reusing the bolts and torqing the head down to 33.5 ft lbs + 2 - 90 degree turns in proper sequence.

 

Sounds good to me. Drive it...
