2000 a6 info lights out help

Default 2000 a6 info lights out help

Hi i have a 2000 a6 2.7t and the info display in the center of the instrument cluster has only partial words and numbers even the low fuel warning sighn is only partially there , i assume there are pixels or bulbs out, how do i fix it and is it a hard job to do i am a mechanic.

its a common problem with the b5 audi's there is no bulb. it comes as a unit. its expensive and all you have to do it take the steering wheel off and then the consol itself.

Depending on how much experience you have with instrument clusters... remove the cluster, remove the center display unit and re-seal it. It can get loose over the years causing loose pixels display. Some say it gets worse as it warms up...

Do you need any special tools to pull the cluster, reseal it with what.
