Default 2001 a6 avant quattro brake problem

I recently purchased a 2001 a6 avant quattro w/ 48k miles. When i first start the car after it's been sitting for awhile the brakes are almost nonexistent. I have to let the car warm up for 5 mins or so before the brakes begin to function normally. What is the cause of this and is there something i can do to alleviate the problem?? Has anyone else experienced this issue? This is my first audi, love the car, but the brake problem is a bit scary.

it shouldn't be a prob, but it obviously is, so, take it to a mechanic you trust (DON'T take it back to the Stealership unless you got DEEP pockets), and have them bleed your brake system, maybe even flush and replace your brake fluid, if bleeding doesn't solve teh problem.

A tought just occured... check teh wear on your brake pads, especially the rears!!!

Is it cold there? Ive seen brake boosters fill with water, and when it freezes it blocks brake operation. Other than that i would check the vacuum lines to the booster for blockage or leaks.
