Default 2001 audi s4 blinker prob

My blinkers stopped working today. They click twice then stop both sides. My flashers still work. What do you think the caus of this is? I'd like to do it myself cause this car has cost me a bunch in repairs over the last few months. Please help!!! Thank you

probably the relay, which is integrated into the flasher button on the dash. your flashers will still work even if the relay behind the switch is going (has gone) bad. pretty easy DIY and not terribly expensive ($50)

I guess the very first step should be to check the related fuses, just to be sure.

Then as far as the flasher relay goes:

no need for a guide. just pull the trim piece around the switch. You will break some of the clamps that hold it on but there will be enough left to put it back. be firm but careful and it will pop off eventually. I have a paint can opener tool that I use that works well. Any smaller flat head screwdriver should do the trick. I don't recall how the flasher button is held in, I believe it just clips in. A good firm pull should pop it right out. Push the new one in and GTG.

Disconnect the battery first. Make sure you have the radio code just in case.

good luck

Hey, thank you very much. That was the issue. Literally took me like 3 min to get it out and 1 min to put it back in. Very easy quick fix. I got one more question maybe you can help me with. I'm going to make another post also incase you can't. My car won't heat up properly. The temp gauge sometimes doesn't get up to normal temperatures. (doesn't move at all) other times it takes a lot longer to get to normal temp. It never overheats. Seems to only blow heat when driving at higher speeds. I thought maybe thermostat was sticking but when they did my timing belt I believe they did that too sense it's in such a bad location (if I'm not mistaken). Well thanks again. Your the best.

if your coolant gauge doesn't seem to be working right it sounds like the coolant temperature sensor is going.

have you had your car long? does it seem like the heat is working "less" than it used too or just less than you think it should? may be a clogged heater core. heater core replacement is a real PITA. You should check to make sure your coolant reservoir is sufficiently full. In my car even a small change in coolant level throws the heat off more than you would expect.

try a search and you will find all kinds of threads about heat issues. a lot of times when people first get an Audi they "think" there is an issue with the heat because the system regulates the temperature of the air coming out. A bad CTS would give you issues with the heat as well. Couple of tips, make sure the ECON button is on and keep the temp to HI, should give you the max output.

if it continues to give you issues, post up in the B5 section. lots of knowledgeable folks over there

I've had my car for a year and a half now. The heat defanitly doesn't work like it use to. The air feels cold until I get moving and even then it doesn't get as warm as it use to. Thanks again for your help.
