Hi,
Audi A6 Allroad 2.5 tdi V6. 125000 miles, just bought and I like it a lot.

EMC light comes on for a little while but goes off if I give the car a run.
Can anyone please advise me as to what actually happens to make this light come on? All the book says is 'take it to the Audi workshop.'

Pull the OBD codes from the ECU. If you don't have a reader, you can take it to an automotive store like Advance Auto, Pepboys, or Autozone and they will pull them for you for free. The codes will tell you what sensors or what might be causing the problem. Post them here if you can.

I have bought a code reader and book of codes, but am on the mainland at the moment (I live on the Isle of Wight, where the code reader is.) As soon as I get home I will do it and post the results here.
